Kingsview Partners Welcomes Eric D. Rankin and Jesse Veenstra to Lead Northwest Iowa Wealth Management Practice
Partners Combine Command-Level Leadership, Behavioral Finance, Education, and Multi-Generational Planning
Some financial practices are built around one advisor’s philosophy. Eric Rankin and Jesse Veenstra have built theirs around what happens when different strengths are allowed to challenge and sharpen each other.
Kingsview Partners is proud to welcome Partners and Wealth Managers Eric D. Rankin, AAMS®, AWMA®, and Jesse Veenstra, CFP®, CKA®, CEPA®, along with their Northwest Iowa team.
Eric has worked in financial services since 2003, advising families, farmers, business owners, and retirees through major financial decisions. Jesse, a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) professional, brings 15 years of experience across financial services and finance education, along with years spent studying behavioral finance and the psychology behind money.
Their professional paths look very different. That is precisely the point.
Before financial services, Eric graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy and spent more than a decade at sea. He ultimately captained U.S. government vessels, where leadership meant accepting responsibility for people, operations, safety, and outcomes.
Jesse came through finance, lending, underwriting, and the classroom. He holds three finance degrees and continues to teach undergraduate and graduate investment and finance courses at Dordt University.
Together, they approach wealth management from two complementary directions: Eric asks whether the right people are taking responsibility for the decision. Jesse asks whether the client truly understands the decision being made.
“A good plan should answer more than, ‘Can I afford it?’” Eric said. “It should answer what this money is for, who it is meant to serve, and what the client wants it to make possible.”
Their work can span investment management, retirement planning, business and farm succession, estate and legacy planning, charitable giving, tax-aware strategies, and risk management. But both believe the technical work matters most when it helps a client move from uncertainty to action.
“The numbers matter, but behavior is where a plan gets lived out,” Jesse said. “When people understand why a strategy makes sense, they can make decisions with more confidence and stay grounded when life gets noisy.”
That philosophy extends across the broader practice. Luke Rankin, Associate Financial Advisor, supports research, analysis, workflows, and client organization. Michelle Deinken, Branch Office Administrator, brings more than two decades of experience helping clients and advisory offices keep complicated processes moving.
And despite sharing a last name, Eric and Luke are not related.
“Eric and Jesse have built a practice around two things that matter deeply: taking responsibility when decisions are consequential and making sure clients understand the path in front of them,” said Sean McGillivray, Chief Operating Officer & President of Asset Management at Kingsview Partners. “That combination of experience, education, and genuine stewardship is powerful, and it is exactly the kind of team we are excited to have at Kingsview.”
For Eric and Jesse, the measure of good wealth management is ultimately not the complexity of the strategy. It is what happens next: a family retires with greater confidence, a farm or business moves successfully to another generation, generosity becomes possible, or a decision that once felt overwhelming finally feels manageable.
That is where the plan leaves the page and starts doing its real work.
