Jesse Veenstra, CFP®, CKA®, CEPA®

Partner | Wealth Manager

Jesse Veenstra is a Partner and Wealth Manager whose career has been built at the intersection of finance, education, and service. A Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) professional, Jesse brings 15 years of experience across financial services, lending, insurance, and finance education.

Originally from Pella, Iowa, Jesse earned his Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Dordt University, an MBA in Finance from Iowa State University, and a Doctor of Business Administration in Finance from National University. His career has included managing a multi-state lending office, underwriting construction bonds of up to $20 million, and teaching finance at the university level. He continues to teach undergraduate and graduate finance courses at Dordt University.

The Psychology Behind the Numbers

Jesse has spent years studying behavioral finance, and it has shaped the way he thinks about wealth.

The math matters. But Jesse believes understanding why people make financial decisions can matter even more. Biases, habits, fear, family history, and personal values all influence financial choices, often in ways a spreadsheet cannot capture.

That perspective leads Jesse to spend as much time understanding the person as analyzing the portfolio. He especially enjoys seeing clients arrive anxious or unsure and leave with greater clarity and confidence in the path ahead.

Stewardship Through Understanding

Jesse’s faith plays an important role in how he approaches his work. He views financial resources as a form of stewardship and believes wealth can be managed intentionally to support family, generosity, purpose, and the things a client values most.

His background as an educator naturally fits that philosophy. Jesse believes good stewardship starts with understanding, which is why he takes time to explain the reasoning behind a strategy rather than simply handing clients a recommendation. Whether he is teaching a finance course or walking a family through a difficult decision, his goal is the same: make the complex understandable enough to act on with confidence.

He finds particular meaning in seeing that understanding turn into action and watching the impact of a financial plan stretch across a family, sometimes for generations.

Built for the Long Haul

Jesse is an 11-time Ironman finisher, has competed in three Ironman World Championship races, and has completed more than 20 marathons, twice qualifying for the Boston Marathon. He and his family are also actively involved in foster care and advocacy.

Jesse and his wife, Angela, have been married for 18 years and have three children, Natalie, Aislynn, and Theo. After 13 years in Des Moines, they moved to Sioux Center in 2021.
