Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jon VanSlooten was raised in a home that valued self-reliance and hard work.
His father was a prominent dentist who owned his own dental practice and all three of his brothers (attorney, physician and stand-up comedian/comedic writer) have ventured out on their own to become successful, self-employed entrepreneurs. Jon’s upbringing has played a significant role in guiding him to Kingsview Partners and his choice to build an independent financial advisor practice.
Jon spent seven plus years with Edward Jones Investments, starting his career there in mid-2008. Jon credits his success during that volatile time to his ability to educate his clients about market history, stressing ownership of high-quality investments and keeping clients focused on their long-term goals and objectives. Jon specializes in individual equity selection, building client portfolios of high-quality, “dividend-rising” stocks.
Jon and his wife of nineteen years, Michelle, reside in Ottawa Hills, OH, where they are raising five children ranging in age from seven to seventeen. Jon’s family is a very active group; sports are front and center in the VanSlooten home. Jon attended Western Michigan University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and played football for the Broncos. It would appear his kids caught the competitive bug. Jon’s oldest daughter will start her collegiate basketball career this fall at High Point University in High Point, North Carolina. When not attending a basketball, football, lacrosse or soccer game for one of the kids, Jon and Michelle can be found driving to a basketball, football, lacrosse or soccer practice.
